Refund policy

We want your books to arrive in good condition and your digital purchases to work. If something goes wrong, contact support@ark.press with your order number and a short description of the problem.

This policy covers purchases made directly from Ark Press. Purchases through another retailer are handled under that retailer’s return policy.

Damaged, defective, or incorrect products

If your product arrives damaged or defective, or we send the wrong item, you may return it for a full refund. If you prefer, we can arrange a replacement when stock is available.

Ark Press covers necessary return shipping for these items. Your refund includes the amount paid for the affected product, applicable tax, and the original shipping charge attributable to it. If the whole order is affected, we refund the full original shipping charge. There is no restocking fee.

Please contact us promptly, preferably within 30 days of delivery. Photos may help us resolve the problem, but tell us if you cannot provide them. We may resolve a claim without requiring a return.

Returning a printed book because you changed your mind

You may request a return within 30 days after delivery. Books must be in their original, saleable condition, without added markings, stains, or damage.

Physical orders are fulfilled through our warehouse in Edmond, Oklahoma. Contact support@ark.press before mailing a return so we can provide the correct address and instructions.

Ebooks and audiobooks

Digital purchases are delivered through BookFunnel. Use the help option on your delivery page for downloading, reading, or listening assistance, or contact Ark Press directly.

We will refund an accidental digital purchase that has not been accessed and the extra copy in a verified duplicate purchase. Once content has been downloaded, streamed, or accessed, we generally do not offer change-of-mind refunds.

If we supplied the wrong content, or a technical problem prevents you from using your purchase and we cannot resolve it within a reasonable time, we will refund the affected purchase, including applicable tax.

Cancellations and refunds

Contact us promptly to cancel an order. We can normally cancel physical purchases before shipment processing begins. Unshipped preorders may be cancelled for a full refund of the item and associated shipping.

Eligible refunds go to the original payment method. We aim to issue them within 10 business days after receiving a return or confirming that no return is needed, and sooner where required by law. Your payment provider may take additional time to post the credit.

Monster-hunting vigilante Mike Spears must protect a paranormal events podcaster who has gotten too close to the truth from a well-armed, technologically equipped Aztec-like hit squad sent from a world ruled by a blood empire.

Read MoreRead Less

When a true-crime podcaster opens a door between worlds, legendary vigilante Mike Spears must stop an apocalyptic invasion of the American West—from Larry Correia, New York Times best-selling creator of Monster Hunter International.

One Man to Step into Darkness

Mike Spears is a vigilante, an expert in taking down the evil in our world one monstrous incursion at a time. He’s a man with a name only whispered in legend and only spoken aloud in desperate straits.

Welcome to the dark places of the modern American West—a West where mythic worlds roam the landscape like so many weather fronts. And when those fronts collide, horror spills out. Blood-soaked ground. Vanished neighbors. When the last shred of hope is nearly spent, there’s one man who will step into that darkness—and deal with it.

Now a true-crime podcaster is closing in on the truth about Spears and the strange world he navigates, but she’s accidentally drawn something demonic through the door between worlds—a kill team from another deeply twisted reality. And, if Spears is right, these techno-Aztec operators are only the tip of an apocalyptic invasion set to bathe our land in blood.

But first they’ll have to get past Spears.

Reviews and Endorsements
“Mike Spears is the quintessential Larry Correia hero—tough, flawed, and locked n’ loaded. The modern master of firearms and fantasy is back again, with another tale that the woke and the weak would never dare write. American Paladin is a wild ride, with no apologies, one in the chamber, and the safety off.”
—Kurt Schlichter, Townhall senior columnist, best-selling author of the People's Republic series
“Burdened by knowledge and the scars of a life-changing incident in his teens, Spears accepts the mantle that nobody else wants, and commits himself to killing things that nobody else can. . . . At great personal cost and with heavy sacrifice he commits himself to a life of labor and loneliness, and every successful mission makes the world a better place.”
—The Federalist
“American Paladin offers a refreshing world of elusive cryptids, mysterious lands, and conspiracy-minded schizos trying to make sense of it all. Its magic and monsters feel genuinely eerie, and its hero stands out by being capable but entirely uncredentialed. . . . Fans of cryptid lore should get a kick out of this working hero in America’s lonely places.”
—David Hines, Daily Wire
“It’s like a Jack Reacher or a Terminal List novel, only you're fighting ancient demons in control of the Aztec Empire who appear in America. A boots-on-the-ground, gritty, thriller feel, plus the urban fantasy feel where we're hunting demons and monsters. And that's awesome. I want a dozen more of these. A five-star read.”
—iSamwise Reviews
“The loner who has spent his life becoming dangerous and applies it to destroying nightmares resonates with a lot of people. . . . it's a good book with the gun guy as the good guy, with an honest reflection of how the criminal justice system doesn't get it right all the time, and how there really are monsters among us.”
—Tom Knighton, Bearing Arms
“Larry Correia tells the simple truth . . . American citizens are the real first responders.”
—Jim Scoutten, Shooting U.S.A.
“Lighthearted and testosterone-soaked . . . Will delight fans of action horror with elaborate weaponry, hand-to-hand combat, disgusting monsters, and an endless stream of blood and body parts.”
—Publishers Weekly
“Part science fiction, part horror, and an absolute blast to read.”
—Bookreporter.com
“Intense action scenes, evil in horrifying array, good struggling against the darkness, and human beings faced with gut-wrenching moral choices.”
—Jim Butcher
